Sir Elton Hercules John, CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on 25 March 1947) is an English singer-songwriter, pianist and composer. He has worked with Bernie Taupin as his lyricist since 1967, composing many hits including Crocodile Rock, Tiny Dancer and Candle in the Wind. His 1970s recordings include the highest-selling albums in UK chart history: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, the first of which has sold 26 million copies and the second 16 million copies there alone.
